Make a website for your girlfriend
A website for your girlfriend is a page at a link with her name in it, longlove.app/for-anna, that holds the things you would not say out loud: the letter, the photos, the reasons, the song. It opens on her phone like an envelope, and it stays up for as long as you want it to.
This guide covers what goes on it, which format to pick for her sense of humour, what to do about the occasion if there is one, and how the reply loop works. There are separate pages for her birthday, Valentine's Day, and saying sorry; this one is for the page you make because you want to.
What goes on a page for her
A page that works without an occasion has a shape. Header with a cover photo and one line. The counter, so the first number she sees is the days. A gallery of eight to twelve photos with captions in your voice, polaroid layout. The sealed letter. A reasons list of ten specific things. One song with a line about why it is yours. One fun block, and only one: a scratch card, a quiz, or the compatibility calculator rigged to her name. Then the reply box. That is eight blocks, about twenty-five minutes with photos ready, and it reads as a page rather than a scrapbook because everything on it is there for a reason. Add the 'open when' envelopes if you want it to keep giving after the first read.
Choose the format by her sense of humour
Classic is one long scroll, letter front and centre, and it is the right choice if she would rather be moved than amused. Wrapped, the tap-through slides, suits someone who lives in stories and would screen-record it. Front Page, the newspaper, is for a big moment or a big personality. Receipt is for dry humour. The link, the envelope, and the colour
When you publish you choose the custom link, and 'for-' followed by her name is the classic. The page opens sealed: an envelope or a gift box with her name on it and a 'tap to open' pill, then the hearts fall and the page appears. Ten colour themes are built in; pick her colour rather than defaulting to pink, and pick a dark theme if she reads in bed. The fonts, the effect that falls (hearts, petals, sparkles, snow), and the opening text are all yours to change. Open when, and the reply loop
The 'Open when' block adds sealed envelopes with labels: open when you miss me, open when work was bad, open when you cannot sleep. Each holds a note or a photo, and they turn a one-time page into something she keeps on her home screen. The reply box at the end takes text or a twenty-second voice note and lands in your inbox with a link to listen; you also get an email the moment the page is first opened. AI portraits: the two of you, painted
The portraits block takes a photo of the two of you and returns it in a style: watercolour, 3D animated film, royal oil painting, claymation, pixel art, comic panel, and more. Two generations are included with a published page, and a pack of six more is available if you want to try several styles. Faces are kept recognisable, the photo is not used for anything else, and portraits that appear to include minors are refused. Put the result as the last photo in the gallery, or as the cover on the header, so the page ends with a picture that did not exist before you made it. Try two styles with the included generations before buying more; the animated and watercolour ones suit most photos, and the royal portrait suits a couple with a sense of drama.
